Einmaliger Konzertabend vor dem antiken Tempel des Zeus in Korinth 

Opern- und Musicalhighlights unter freiem Himmel 

Direkt vor der majestätischen Kulisse des antiken Tempels in Korinth fand bereits zum zweiten Mal eine musikalische Darbietung des Algunder Kulturvereins Amaté zum Abschluss der „Merano Academy Summer Stage Greece 2025“ für Solisten unter der Leitung von Richard J. Sigmund statt. Diesmal überzeugte ein stimmungsvoller Konzertabend, der die 800 Konzertbesucher und Mitwirkende gleichermaßen begeisterte. Sechs Solisten – John Sweeney, Seonyoung Moon, Loes Cools, Tirza Gloger, Haneol Kim und Akiko Hayurama – präsentierten ein abwechslungsreiches Programm mit Arien und Duetten aus Oper, Operette und Musical. Am Piano begleitet durch Salvador Sinitsyn und Ellen Kaufmann.

Das Programm spannte einen weiten Bogen von der Wiener Klassik – wie Mozarts „Deh vieni non tardar“ und „Come scoglio“ – über romantische Opernarien von Puccini, Donizetti und Verdi bis hin zu musikalischen Höhepunkten aus dem 20. Jahrhundert. Besonders eindrucksvoll waren Interpretationen wie „Madamina, il catalogo“ (John Sweeney), „O mio babbino caro“ (Tirza Gloger), „Bella siccome un angelo“ (Haneol Kim), ”Saper vorreste“ (Seonyoung Moon) und „Come scoglio“ und „Sì, mi chiamano Mimì“ (Loes Cools), die das Publikum emotional berührten und zu anhaltendem Applaus führten.

Auch Musical-Klassiker kamen nicht zu kurz: Songs aus Andrew Lloyd Webbers Erfolgsstücken „Phantom der Oper“ und „Cats“, sowie zeitlose Melodien wie „Some Enchanted Evening“, „Don’t Cry for Me Argentina“ und „If I Were a Rich Man“ sorgten für Gänsehaut und begeisterte Reaktionen.

Die Solisten überzeugten nicht nur mit stimmlicher Brillanz, sondern auch mit Ausdruck, Bühnenpräsenz und spürbarer Freude am Musizieren. Die besondere Atmosphäre des antiken Ortes verstärkte die Wirkung der Darbietungen und machte das Konzert zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis.

Ein besonderer Dank gilt Andreas Drekis vom Hellenikon Idyllion in Seliantika für seine herzliche Gastfreundschaft und die hervorragende Organisation vor Ort, die wesentlich zum Gelingen dieses Projektes beigetragen haben.

Mit langanhaltendem Applaus und stehenden Ovationen dankte das Publikum für einen musikalischen Abend, der Kultur, Geschichte und Emotion auf eindrucksvolle Weise verband.

Nach einem bemerkenswerten Abend voller Musik und Emotionen hatten wir die Gelegenheit, mit der Präsidentin des Kulturvereins Kaloy, Frau Maria Christara sowie des Kulturministeriums zu sprechen. Wir wollten ihre Eindrücke vom Konzert hören, mehr über die Herausforderungen hinter den Kulissen erfahren und einen Ausblick auf ihre Hoffnungen für zukünftige Kooperationen gewinnen.

Beginnen wir mit Ihren persönlichen Eindrücken. Wie haben Sie diesen Abend erlebt? 
Es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis – ein Abend, an dem Musik mit der Natur, dem Zauber des Mondes und der unvergleichlichen Ausstrahlung des Apollon-Tempels im antiken Korinth verschmolz. Fast tausend Menschen teilten die Emotionen dieses besonderen Moments und genossen die Freude, die nur die Kunst schenken kann. 

Ein Event in dieser Größenordnung zu organisieren, ist nie leicht. Ein solches Konzert auf die Beine zu stellen erfordert sicher enorme Anstrengungen – wie gelingt Ihnen das? 

Die antike griechische Mythologie ist reich an Symbolik: So wie Herakles den nemeischen Löwen bezwang, so meistert die Kaloy-Stiftung ihre Herausforderungen – sie erfüllt nicht nur ihre Bildungsaufgabe, junge Menschen zu fördern, sondern organisiert zugleich Veranstaltungen von höchster Qualität, die den Ort und sein Erbe ehren. 

Mit Blick auf das heutige Konzert: Was macht die Aufführungen am antiken Schauplatz in Korinth unter der Leitung von Richard J. Sigmund aus Ihrer Sicht so einzigartig? 
Es ist die Verbindung außergewöhnlicher musikalischer Meisterschaft mit der seltenen künstlerischen Vision von Herrn Sigmund, der die Aufführung harmonisch mit dem Raum selbst verschmelzen lässt. Die Musikerinnen und Musiker scheinen aus den Tiefen der Geschichte hervorzugehen, während Mondlicht und der Glanz des Apollon-Tempels jede Note umhüllen – so entsteht der überwältigende Eindruck, dass die Gegenwart in einen Dialog mit der Ewigkeit tritt. 

Nach einem so inspirierenden Abend – was wünschen Sie sich persönlich für die Zukunft? 
Wir wünschen Ihnen Gesundheit und Kraft, um weiterhin das Licht der Kunst zu erschaffen und in die Welt hinauszutragen. Zudem hoffen wir, dass unsere Zusammenarbeit weiterhin gedeiht und uns neue Freuden und neue künstlerische Höhen beschert. 

Und wenn wir in die Zukunft blicken: Sehen Sie diese Art der Zusammenarbeit auch in den kommenden Jahren fortbestehen? 
Unbedingt. Wir warten schon gespannt auf Ihre neuen Vorschläge, damit diese Veranstaltungen fortgeführt werden und sich als kulturelle Institution etablieren können: „Oper im antiken Korinth“ – ein kulturelles Wahrzeichen, das es verdient, Jahr für Jahr weiter zu wachsen und zu erblühen.

Direttamente davanti alla maestosa cornice dell’antico tempio di Corinto si è svolta, per la seconda volta, un’esibizione musicale dell’Associazione culturale Amaté di Lagundo, a conclusione della “Merano Academy Summer Stage Greece 2025” per solisti sotto la direzione di Richard J. Sigmund. Questa volta è stata una serata concertistica suggestiva, che ha entusiasmato sia gli 800 spettatori che i partecipanti. Sei solisti – John Sweeney, Seonyoung Moon, Loes Cools, Tirza Gloger, Haneol Kim e Akiko Hayurama – hanno presentato un programma variegato con arie e duetti da opera, operetta e musical, accompagnati al pianoforte da Salvador Sinitsyn ed Ellen Kaufmann. 

Il programma ha spaziato dal classicismo viennese – con arie di Mozart come “Deh vieni non tardar” e “Come scoglio” – passando per le arie romantiche di Puccini, Donizetti e Verdi, fino a capolavori musicali del XX secolo. Particolarmente impressionanti sono state interpretazioni come “Madamina, il catalogo” (John Sweeney), “O mio babbino caro” (Tirza Gloger), “Bella siccome un angelo” (Haneol Kim), “Saper vorreste” (Seonyoung Moon) e “Come scoglio” e “Sì, mi chiamano Mimì” (Loes Cools), che hanno profondamente emozionato il pubblico e ricevuto lunghi applausi. 

Non sono mancati nemmeno i classici del musical: brani dai successi di Andrew Lloyd Webber “Il fantasma dell’opera” e “Cats”, così come melodie senza tempo come “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” e “If I Were a Rich Man”, che hanno suscitato brividi e reazioni entusiaste. 

I solisti hanno convinto non solo per la brillantezza vocale, ma anche per l’espressività, la presenza scenica e la gioia palpabile di fare musica. L’atmosfera speciale del luogo antico ha amplificato l’effetto delle esecuzioni, rendendo il concerto un’esperienza davvero unica.

Intervista con Maria Christara (Presidente dell’Associazione Culturale Kaloy)

Dopo una serata straordinaria piena di musica ed emozioni, abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di parlare con la presidente dell’Associazione Culturale Kaloy, la signora Maria Christara, nonché con il Ministero della Cultura. Volevamo ascoltare le loro impressioni sul concerto, conoscere le sfide dietro le quinte e avere una prospettiva sulle loro speranze per future collaborazioni.

Cominciamo con le sue impressioni personali. Come ha vissuto questa serata?
È stata un’esperienza indimenticabile – una serata in cui la musica si è fusa con la natura, l’incanto della luna e l’incomparabile fascino del Tempio di Apollo nell’antica Corinto. Quasi mille persone hanno condiviso le emozioni di questo momento speciale e hanno goduto della gioia che solo l’arte può donare.

Un evento di queste dimensioni non è mai facile da organizzare. Mettere in piedi un concerto del genere richiede sicuramente enormi sforzi – come ci riuscite?
La mitologia greca antica è ricca di simbolismo: così come Eracle sconfisse il leone di Nemea, la Fondazione Kaloy affronta le sue sfide – non solo assolvendo il compito educativo di sostenere i giovani, ma anche organizzando eventi della massima qualità, che onorano il luogo e il suo patrimonio.

Guardando al concerto di oggi: cosa rende, secondo lei, le esibizioni in questo sito antico di Corinto, sotto la direzione di Richard J. Sigmund, così uniche?
È la combinazione di una straordinaria maestria musicale con la rara visione artistica del maestro Sigmund, che armonizza l’esecuzione con lo spazio stesso. I musicisti sembrano emergere dalle profondità della storia, mentre la luce della luna e lo splendore del Tempio di Apollo avvolgono ogni nota – creando la travolgente sensazione che il presente entri in dialogo con l’eternità.

Dopo una serata così ispiratrice – cosa desidera personalmente per il futuro?
Auguriamo salute e forza per continuare a creare la luce dell’arte e a diffonderla nel mondo. Inoltre speriamo che la nostra collaborazione continui a prosperare, portandoci nuove gioie e nuove vette artistiche.

E guardando al futuro: vede questo tipo di collaborazione continuare anche nei prossimi anni?
Assolutamente. Attendiamo con impazienza le vostre nuove proposte, affinché questi eventi possano continuare e affermarsi come istituzione culturale: “Opera nell’antica Corinto” – un punto di riferimento culturale che merita di crescere e fiorire anno dopo anno.

Directly in front of the majestic backdrop of the ancient temple in Corinth, a musical performance by the Algund cultural association Amaté took place for the second time, marking the conclusion of the “Merano Academy Summer Stage Greece 2025” for soloists under the direction of Richard J. Sigmund. This time, an atmospheric concert evening captivated both the 800 audience members and the performers. Six soloists – John Sweeney, Seonyoung Moon, Loes Cools, Tirza Gloger, Haneol Kim, and Akiko Hayurama – presented a varied program of arias and duets from opera, operetta, and musical theatre, accompanied on piano by Salvador Sinitsyn and Ellen Kaufmann. 

The program spanned a wide arc from Viennese classicism – such as Mozart’s “Deh vieni non tardar” and “Come scoglio” – through romantic opera arias by Puccini, Donizetti, and Verdi, to musical highlights of the 20th century. Particularly impressive were interpretations such as “Madamina, il catalogo” (John Sweeney), “O mio babbino caro” (Tirza Gloger), “Bella siccome un angelo” (Haneol Kim), “Saper vorreste” (Seonyoung Moon), and “Come scoglio” and “Sì, mi chiamano Mimì” (Loes Cools), which moved the audience deeply and led to prolonged applause. 

Musical theatre classics were also featured: songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit productions The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, as well as timeless melodies like Some Enchanted Evening, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, and If I Were a Rich Man, created goosebump moments and enthusiastic reactions. 

The soloists impressed not only with vocal brilliance, but also with expression, stage presence, and a palpable joy of making music. The special atmosphere of the ancient setting amplified the impact of the performances and turned the concert into a truly unique experience.

Interview with Maria Christara (President of the Kaloy Cultural Association) 

After a remarkable evening full of music and emotions, we had the opportunity to speak with the President of the Kaloy Cultural Association, Mrs. Maria Christara, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Culture. We wanted to hear their impressions of the concert, learn more about the challenges behind the scenes, and gain insight into their hopes for future cooperation. 

Let’s start with your personal impressions. How did you experience this evening?
It was an unforgettable experience – an evening in which music merged with nature, the magic of the moon, and the incomparable aura of the Temple of Apollo in ancient Corinth. Almost a thousand people shared the emotions of this special moment and enjoyed the joy that only art can give. 

Organizing an event of this scale is never easy. Bringing such a concert to life surely requires enormous effort – how do you succeed in doing it?

 Ancient Greek mythology is rich in symbolism: just as Heracles defeated the Nemean lion, the Kaloy Foundation masters its challenges – not only fulfilling its educational mission of supporting young people, but also organizing events of the highest quality that honor the place and its heritage. 

Looking at tonight’s concert: what, in your view, makes the performances at the ancient site in Corinth under the direction of Richard J. Sigmund so unique?
It is the combination of extraordinary musical mastery with the rare artistic vision of Mr. Sigmund, who harmoniously merges the performance with the space itself. The musicians seem to emerge from the depths of history, while moonlight and the radiance of the Temple of Apollo envelop each note – creating the overwhelming impression that the present is entering into a dialogue with eternity. 

After such an inspiring evening – what do you personally wish for the future?
We wish you health and strength to continue creating the light of art and carrying it out into the world. Moreover, we hope that our collaboration will continue to flourish, bringing us new joys and new artistic heights. 

And looking to the future: do you see this type of collaboration continuing in the coming years?
Absolutely. We are eagerly awaiting your new proposals so that these events can continue and establish themselves as a cultural institution: “Opera in ancient Corinth” – a cultural landmark that deserves to grow and flourish year after year.
