A concert evening that went under the skin: On Saturday 22nd of March, the packed Parish Church of Algund became the setting for a unique musical experience. The South Tyrolean premiere of the Oratorio for Peace (Op. 88) by Richard J. Sigmund unfolded a gripping soundscape that deeply moved the audience.

Under the direction of the composer himself, around 120 performers brought the monumental work to life. Ten outstanding soloists, the Kimratshofen Men’s Choir, the Ultner Bänkelsänger, as well as the Amaté Orchestra and Vocal Ensemble from Merano, created a performance of unparalleled intensity. The oratorio, which had already been enthusiastically received in Kimratshofen (Bavaria), immediately captivated the listeners in Algund as well.

A Musical Memorial for Peace

Richard J. Sigmund’s work is more than a musical masterpiece—it is a powerful appeal against violence and war. In his score, the composer expresses his intent to send a message of peace amidst the turmoil of our times.
