"Musik zur Passio" in der Pfarrkirche von Algund
Kürzlich fand in der Pfarrkirche von Algund das beeindruckende Abschlusskonzert der Merano Academy– Winter Stage 2025 statt. Junge Solisten, die von Professor Richard Josef Sigmund intensiv auf dieses Vorkonzert vorbereitet wurden, präsentierten eine erlesene Auswahl an Werken von Mendelssohn und Bach sowie das bewegende Stabat Mater von Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
Die Sänger wurden von einem exquisiten Ensemble begleitet: Ein Streichquartett unter der Leitung von Marcello Defant, die Flötistin Valentina Resch sowie die Pianistin Jieun Lee aus Korea trugen maßgeblich zur klanglichen Brillanz des Abends bei. Besonders eindrucksvoll waren die zwölf Choräle von Bach und Mendelssohn, die in einer von Sigmund eigens angefertigten neuen Orchestrierung erklangen und in facettenreichen musikalischen Farben leuchteten.
Alle Solisten zeichneten sich durch ein hohes Maß an stimmtechnischer Fertigkeit aus, gepaart mit spürbarer Liebe zur Gesangskultur und einer feinen Stimmführung. Besonders hervorzuheben sind Elisabeth Zeiler und Miriam Bitschnau aus Österreich, die Altistin Barbara Kaczynska, der südkoreanische Bassist Haneol Kim mit seinem warmen, sonoren Timbre sowie der lyrische Tenor Ha Min Park. Ein besonderer Höhepunkt war die Darbietung der jungen belgischen Sopranistin Loes Cools: Ihre Interpretation von Höre Israel von Mendelssohn zeugte von außergewöhnlicher stimmlicher Qualität. Ebenso beeindruckte die Südtiroler Sopranistin Maria Theresia Platter mit einer erstaunlich tragfähigen und geschmeidigen Stimme.
Das Stabat Mater von Pergolesi wurde in einer ungewöhnlichen Besetzung mit drei Sopranistinnen und zwei Altistinnen präsentiert, was dem Werk eine frische, abwechslungsreiche und farbenreiche Klanggestaltung verlieh.
Das Publikum zeigte sich tief bewegt von den ausdrucksstarken Darbietungen und würdigte die Künstler mit anhaltendem Applaus und stehenden Ovationen.

Recentemente si è tenuto nella chiesa parrocchiale di Lagundo l’impressionante concerto conclusivo della Merano Academy – Winter Stage 2025. Giovani solisti, preparati intensamente dal professor Richard Josef Sigmund per questo importante evento, hanno presentato una raffinata selezione di opere di Mendelssohn e Bach, nonché lo toccante Stabat Mater di Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
I cantanti sono stati accompagnati da un ensemble squisito: un quartetto d’archi diretto da Marcello Defant, la flautista Valentina Resch e la pianista sudcoreana Jieun Lee hanno contribuito in modo significativo alla brillantezza sonora della serata. Particolarmente suggestivi i dodici corali di Bach e Mendelssohn, eseguiti in una nuova orchestrazione appositamente realizzata da Sigmund, che hanno brillato in una ricca gamma di colori musicali.
Tutti i solisti si sono distinti per l’elevato livello di tecnica vocale, unito a un amore palpabile per l’arte del canto e a una raffinata conduzione della voce. Meritano una menzione speciale Elisabeth Zeiler e Miriam Bitschnau dall’Austria, l’altista Barbara Kaczynska, il basso sudcoreano Haneol Kim con il suo timbro caldo e sonoro, e il tenore lirico Ha Min Park. Un momento clou è stata l’interpretazione della giovane soprano belga Loes Cools: la sua esecuzione di Höre Israel di Mendelssohn ha rivelato una qualità vocale straordinaria. Anche la soprano altoatesina Maria Theresia Platter ha colpito con una voce sorprendentemente potente e flessibile.
Lo Stabat Mater di Pergolesi è stato proposto in una formazione inusuale con tre soprani e due contralti, che ha conferito all’opera un’interpretazione fresca, varia e ricca di colori.
Il pubblico è rimasto profondamente commosso dalle esibizioni espressive, premiando gli artisti con lunghi applausi e standing ovation.

"Music for the Passion" in the Parish Church of Algund
The impressive final concert of the Merano Academy – Winter Stage 2025 recently took place in the parish church of Algund. Young soloists, who had been intensively prepared for this preview concert by Professor Richard Josef Sigmund, presented a fine selection of works by Mendelssohn and Bach, as well as the moving Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
The singers were accompanied by a distinguished ensemble: a string quartet led by Marcello Defant, flutist Valentina Resch, and Korean pianist Jieun Lee, all of whom significantly contributed to the sonic brilliance of the evening. Especially striking were the twelve chorales by Bach and Mendelssohn, performed in a newly created orchestration by Sigmund, which brought out a rich spectrum of musical color.
All soloists impressed with their high level of vocal technique, paired with a tangible love for vocal artistry and fine voice control. Particularly noteworthy were Elisabeth Zeiler and Miriam Bitschnau from Austria, alto Barbara Kaczynska, South Korean bass Haneol Kim with his warm, sonorous timbre, and the lyrical tenor Ha Min Park. A special highlight was the performance by young Belgian soprano Loes Cools: her interpretation of Mendelssohn’s Höre Israel revealed exceptional vocal quality. South Tyrolean soprano Maria Theresia Platter also captivated the audience with her remarkably powerful and smooth voice.
Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater was presented in an unusual formation of three sopranos and two altos, giving the work a fresh, varied, and richly colored sound.
The audience was deeply moved by the expressive performances and rewarded the artists with prolonged applause and standing ovations.
